Chronology of events and activities related to A Flag For All People and The Catalyst

  • 1984, Dream of the Flag.
  • Flag is displayed at 20th anniversary celebration of the birth of Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. In Washington D.C.
  • Flag is introduced to the plenary assembly of the World Future Society convention in Washington D.C.
  • Mother Teresa is given the first mass-produced flag at a meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana.
  • Flag raising in New Orleans , Louisiana at the International Trade Mart with children from thirty nations raising the Flag.
  • 1985, Flag is carried in the Human Unity Day multi-cultural parade in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania .
  • Flag is exhibited as a component of the Peace Ribbon Celebration in Washington D.C.
  • Ceremonial flag raising at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
  • 1986. The Flag is carried around the perimeter of the Old City of Jerusalem in a ceremony commemorating the International Year of Peace.
  • May 5th John makes the swim across the Red Sea between Eilat, Israel and Aqaba, Jordan as an act of peace.
  • 1987. Flag raising at Damascus Gate to the Old City of Jerusalem.
  • Philadelphia, at the National Day of Peace International Village Fair celebration, John releases a flag attached to a weather balloon after addressing the assembly. This flag was hand made in the Old City of Jerusalem, sewn together by both Palestinian and Israeli women as a symbol of working together for peace.
  • 1989. Flags are presented at the United States Capitol along with the Declaration of Interdependence and the Pledge of Allegiance to the Family of Earth.
  • Patricia Victoria takes flags to Russia for presentation with a delegation of U.S. Citizens in peace and multi-cultural festivities and also to the University of Peace Conference in Costa Rica, where flags were presented to President Oscar Arias and The Dalai Lama.
  • 1992. A fifty-foot sized flag is unfurled on the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art for the World Family Reunion, which included fifty one sponsoring businesses in Philadelphia and participation by the office of Mayor Ed Rendell.
  • A flag is delivered to the Mayor of Hiroshima via a representative of Mayor Jeremy Harris’s office, as part of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki memorial activities for that year.
  • 1996/97. Flag is sent to Death Row inmates of United States.
  • 1998. John and Leah and Yogi and companion produce a drum and music flag promotional event for the First Night celebrations in Downtown Honolulu.
  • 2002. Continuation of mass mailings. The production for more recorded radio shows are produced, in anticipation of pieces being available for sampling.
  • In further support of a future radio show, written flag related essays are produced.
  • 2003 Flag Journey and promotional trip through Canada, U.S. , and Mexico .
  • More flag mailings. More productions of essays and radio show pieces.
  • 2004. Promotional Flag Trip to Japan.
